The A4LE Pinnacle Award Program recognizes outstanding educational facilities in the Pacific Northwest Region that advance teaching and learning as part of a larger community experience. As a pioneer in Environmental STEM (E-STEM) education, this K-8 urban school envisions its site as a science lab with a variety of learning areas that incite genuine engagement. The landscape offers a range of experiences, each designed to support a specific curriculum. Integrating the site and building promotes a “space flow,” where a multitude of non-traditional spaces can accommodate planned or spontaneous learning opportunities.
